PR Modern Textures in Park Ridge, IL
An elevated transformation defined by warmth, refinement, and quiet modern detail.
For this Chicago home, the clients envisioned a warm, modern space that honored their evolving style while elevating the functionality of their main living areas. The living room and dining room shared an open-concept footprint, but lacked cohesion, purpose, and architectural interest. They wanted these spaces to feel intentional — welcoming for everyday living yet polished enough for hosting.
Our design direction blended soft textures, sculptural forms, and minimal yet impactful lighting to create a home that feels calm, connected, and beautifully layered. With carefully selected furnishings and strategic architectural updates, these two rooms now share a visual dialogue rooted in comfort, sophistication, and modern simplicity.

Design Challenges + Solutions
Challenges:
Create a cohesive design across two open-concept spaces without blending them into one indistinguishable zone
Introduce warmth and comfort into a modern aesthetic without adding visual heaviness
Improve flow and sightlines between the living and dining areas
Replace outdated architectural elements (soffits, dark flooring, dated lighting) with thoughtful modern upgrades
Add functional features (like a dry bar) without overwhelming the existing layout
Solutions:
Unified both rooms through a palette of warm neutrals, tactile materials, and matte finishes
Selected lighter, visually streamlined leather recliners to maintain comfort while keeping sightlines open
Added a stunning oval acacia dining table with matching console to anchor the dining room and introduce organic richness
Chose walnut, green velvet dining chairs for a refined pop of color and luxe texture
Installed minimal yet dramatic brass ceiling fixtures and glass-and-brass sconces for sculptural illumination
Added a custom dry bar to expand functionality and create a true destination within the dining room
Removed a portion of the soffit to accommodate the new ceiling fixture and open the vertical space
Installed wallpaper on the dining room ceiling to add unexpected depth and visual elevation
Refinished the hardwood floors from a dated red oak stain to a fresh, modern white oak tone
Completed the transformation with custom Hunter Douglas window treatments for softness, privacy, and filtered natural light
