“Great design starts in the details.”
Gabriella Mendoza is the founder and principal designer of Mavis Design, a Colorado-based residential interior design studio specializing in kitchens, bathrooms, and full-home renovations.
Her path into design began early, at just 11 years old, working alongside her family in their house painting business. That hands-on experience shaped her deep understanding of materials, finishes, and construction from the ground up. With more than 15 years in the design and construction industry, Gabriella brings both technical knowledge and real-world perspective to every project.
Gabriella holds an AAS in Interior Architecture & Design and a Certificate in Kitchen & Bath Design. She has also earned the NKBA Cabinetry Specialist Badge and NKBA Appliance Badge, reflecting her specialized expertise in the spaces where details matter most. In 2024, Gabriella was also awarded two winning titles in the local NKBA Peak Awards Gala.
In addition to leading Mavis Design, Gabriella is an adjunct instructor in interior design, where she mentors future designers and shares practical, real-world experience from her professional practice. Teaching reinforces her belief that clarity, education, and strong foundations are essential, both in design and in the client experience.
At the heart of her work is a belief that great design is thoughtful, functional, and deeply personal. Gabriella is known for her calm, collaborative approach, guiding clients through complex decisions with confidence and care. Through Mavis Design, she creates spaces that feel timeless, intentional, and truly livable.
The Process
Phase 1 - Initial Design Meeting
A thorough evaluation of your space & project. Precise dimensions are taken to ensure installation accuracy. These facts are then used to determine the total project estimate.
Phase 2 - Conceptual Design
Early concepts are determined for the space and a unique style is created. Preliminary floorplans or designs may be presented as well. Here in this phase, we build your style and vision for the space.
Phase 4 - Design Development
Final approvals are made, materials are ordered, delivered, and inspected, and final construction plans are made. A final project timeline is also confirmed and it’s time to start the next phase!
Phase 5 - Installation
An extension of the design development phase, installation turns 2D plans into 3D spaces. This phase includes demolition, construction, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and more!
Phase 6 - Completion
Installation is completed and the space is finished. Any last-minute touch-ups or adjustments are made. A final walkthrough and inspection is done to ensure you are happy with your new space!
Phase 3 - Schematic Design
Samples of materials or products are sourced for approval. Showroom visits and project site visits may be required. Floorplans or construction documents are started and the project starts to take shape.
