Behind the Design: Blush Modern Bath

The Blush Modern Bath was designed to honor the natural mid-century modern architecture of the home while introducing bold material choices and more intentional detailing throughout the space.

Existing Challenges

One of the biggest challenges in the Blush Modern Bath was working within a smaller footprint while also designing around an existing laundry chute that limited layout flexibility.

Preserving the functionality of the space while improving circulation, storage, and the overall feeling of openness required a more intentional approach to every design decision throughout the bathroom.

Design Approach & Solutions

To create depth and visual interest, we selected a pink pill-shaped tile by Crossville and mixed matte and glossy finishes throughout the installation. The shape of the tile also allowed us to create a bold diamond pattern within the grout lines, turning the wall tile into one of the defining features of the space.

A warm neutral terrazzo floor was continued up the wall in place of a traditional baseboard, helping create a more cohesive transition throughout the bathroom. Brass plumbing fixtures by Artos added warmth and functionality to the overall design.

Final Result

The final result is a bathroom that feels expressive, layered, and intentional while still maintaining a timeless overall aesthetic rooted in the original architecture of the home.
